Cecilville, CA, United States (4E) – Days after Tad Cummins was apprehended by authorities and after Elizabeth Thomas was found safe, police released information of what they found inside the cabin where the two went into hiding.

A photo of the cabin released showed that it was in a wooded area and was away from the city. Bottle of sodas, pots, pans, water bottles, a grill, tissue, and snacks were found inside the cabin. The cabin was still under construction and did not have electricity. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) removed the items they discovered for evidence.

Cummins was alleged of kidnapping the 15-year-old student from Tennessee. Before the former teacher went missing, he was under police investigation as she was spotted kissing Thomas weeks before. The two went missing on March 13. Cummins was a former teacher of Thomas.

A student saw the kissing incident and even confronted Cummins. Cummins, on the other hand, defended himself saying that he loved his wife so much but Thomas sometimes went with them. He also blamed the supposed troubled past of Thomas. When an investigation started, Cummins denied that he kissed Thomas and that he acted like he was a father figure at school. He was ordered to stay away from Thomas but officials later found out that they were alone at a classroom despite the order.

Cummins was then suspended from his teaching post on February 6 and was asked to surrender his computer and iPad, which was issued by the school. The warrant said, “Cummins reportedly became upset over the iPad device, advising that he had personal information on the device, including information about purchases he had made, and was reluctant to give up the device.”

Police also said that before the kidnapping, Cummins made a $4,500 loan and stocked up on an erectile dysfunction pill called Cialis. He also borrowed his wife’s Nissan Rogue and told her that he was set to have a job interview at a medical center. He then drove to the restaurant where Thomas worked.

Accordingly, Thomas told her older sister hours before she disappeared, “Hey I’m leaving, but if I’m not back by 6:00 come looking for me.” As for Cummins, he left a note for his wife wherein he said he was going to Virginia Beach or the D.C. area to clear his head. He also asked her to forgive him and urged her not to call the cops on him.

Cummins has been charged with a federal count of transporting a minor across state lines with the intent of engaging in sexual activity. He also was charged with aggravated kidnapping and sexual contact with a minor.
