The Irony of this statement is astounding on so many level, is the Prime Minister not living in Ethiopia? is he not aware of the economical situation of the country? I ask these questions because for the Prime Minister to wonder why his Citizen would rather stay and live in a hard and demeaning life in Saudi Arabia rather than to come back to their home country would paint a picture of administration that is living in its own invented reality, it shows a government that is not self aware of how inept and incompetent it is in generating a better outlook for its citizen. One will wonder if he is even aware of the current exodus of young Ethiopians into Europe. Here is the statement of the PM Hailemariam

The Premier expressed fear that a situation worse than the previous crackdown by the Saudi government in the efforts to send illegal residents back home could happen to those Ethiopians reluctant to heed to the call.

Hailemariam said “situation that make the Saudi Government forcibly deport our citizens is being created. Therefore, it is better if our citizens come back home before various problems arise seizing the opportunity they are given even in the remaining short period”.

The PM blamed illegal brokers for disseminating wrong information feed to distract the migrants from using the time left to return home safely.

Expressing sadness with the work of the brokers in negatively influencing the citizens not to return home safely, Hailemariam urged the need to fight illegal brokers who are destroying the lives of citizens.

Ethiopian of all stripes are leaving their country and love ones for lack of jobs and future in Ethiopia, they are risking their lives in order to better themselves and their families. It is sad for this government to talk about Ethiopian immigrants not coming home without addressing the underlining problem that is causing this events, and not offering any home for these people.
