Orlando, FL, United States (4E) – A Missouri family went to Orlando during a Disney World vacation but the outing turned deadly after the parents died during a car crash while the two young daughters were seriously injured.
The Florida Highway Patrol said in a statement that the parents were identified as Greg and Sarah Moyers . They reportedly saved up for the trip for months to take their two children, 13-year-old Hailey, and eight-year-old Sophia to the fun park. The family is from Leadwood , Missouri.
Accordingly, the family was able to visit the park and were headed to the beach when their vehicle crashed. They were supposed to drive home after the beach visit. A vehicle driven by a man named Charles King, 43, drifted into the other lane on Interstate 4. The man is from New London, California. The vehicle of the Moyers then veered off of the road and hit a tree. King was not injured.
The accident took place at around 12:30 causing Interstate 4 to be shut down. The parents were pronounced dead at the scene while the two girls had to be airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital. Hailey reportedly suffered serious injuries while Sophia suffered critical injuries.
A friend of the couple, Loni Burnside Eaton, said in a statement, “Their kids were their world. They were very involved and supportive parents and just wanted the best for them. They wanted the girls to experience Disney and the beach. I can’t believe this really happened.” The couple has been living in a small home in Missouri for more than two decades.
