Meth, drug paraphernalia found inside daycare in Alabama, owner arrested

DeKalb County, AL, United States (4E) – The owner of a DeKalb County daycare in Alabama was arrested after meth was found inside the facility.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris said in a statement that deputies investigated the daycare center on suspicion of drug activities as they received an anonymous tip. The center was identified as Bright Beginnings Daycare located in Crossville .

Agents and officers from the DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes unit, the sheriff’s office, and the Crossville police raided the daycare center and arrested the owner, 40-year-old Leslie Bright. She reportedly cooperated with the officials and gave consent to search her belongings and her vehicles. Harris said in a statement that drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine were found inside the daycare center.

Bright was then arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful possession of controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She is now in custody with the DeKalb County Detention Center.

Harris added, “Our Task Force is doing a great job. They work hard investigating tips from concerned citizens. I encourage the citizens to continue to be watchful of their communities and to report any suspicious activity by calling our office or via our website at www.dekalbcountysheriff.org”

The Alabama Department of Human Resources Child Daycare workers have been notified of the incident.

It was unclear if during the raid there were children at the daycare center and what exactly are the details given by the tipster.
