Aberdeen, United Kingdom (4E) – North Sea oil and gas operator Ithaca Energy Inc. Friday announced the successful start-up of production from the Stella field.
Discovered in 1979, the Stella field comprises the Stella Andrew sandstone reservoir and the Stella Ekofisk reservoir. These reservoirs contain light oil and rich gas condensate as well as volatile oil.
“Production has been started from the field and oil export to the adjacent shuttle tanker has commenced,” the company said in a statement.
“The production ramp-up phase will commence when the on-going commissioning of the gas processing and compression facilities is complete.”
The Aberdeen, Scotland-headquartered company said it would provide further information on the status of Stella field operations when it issues financial results for 2016 in late March.
Friday’s announcement comes two weeks after the company’s board of directors unanimously voted in favor of a merger with Israeli energy company Delek Group.
