Albuquerque, NM, United States (4E) – Three children of a woman found dead on a road were located unharmed on Wednesday afternoon after officials believe that the mother’s half-sister kidnapped them.
The half-sister, together with a man, remains on the run with a fourth child. Accordingly, the two suspects are identified as 27-year-old Joshua Robertson and 22-year-old Brittany Humphrey. They were last seen in California with the three children of the dead mother, Kimberly Harvill . The three children were found alive and safe at a motel in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
A tipster reportedly called police officials that led to the discovery of the three children. Humphrey and Robertson reportedly left the three children to the tipster but they did not come back so he called the cops on them. The three children were identified as two-year-old Joslynn , three-year-old Brayden , and five-year-old Rylee . A one and a half year old girl is said to be still with Robertson and Humphrey. The girl with Robertson and Humphrey is not related to the children of Harvill but is said to be left in the care of Robertson.
The mother of the child with Robertson and Humphrey was alerted about the situation. The child is now considered to be at-risk missing person.
The three adults and the four children have all been staying together at a motel in Lebec area before Harvill was found dead in the Gorman Post Road last August 14. All of them are from Fresno, California.
It remains unclear if Humphrey and Robertson are related to the death of Harvill . Harvill’s body was found by a motorist. She suffered trauma to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza said in a statement, “We’re looking at a lot of angles. We really would like to just speak with them once they’re in custody.” Mendoza added that Robertson and Humphrey are persons of interest due to the fact that they did not come forward to law enforcement officials about Harvill’s death. Instead, the couple fled with the children.
Robertson has a criminal history related to narcotics, firearms, and property-related crimes. He and Humphrey are now considered armed and dangerous.
As for the other children, the Sheriff’s Department is coordinating with the Department of Children and Family Services in order to have the children safely returned home.
