Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – A former “Power Ranger” actor pleaded guilty to the charges against him regarding the death of his roommate when he stabbed him with a sword.
The actor, Ricardo Medina Jr., said he used a Conan the Barbarian-style sword. He and his roommate, Josh Sutter, were arguing over his girlfriend prior to the latter’s death. Medina now faces up to six years behind bars.
The incident took place in January 2015. Medina originally pleaded not guilty to the murder charge. However, as part of the plea deal, the charge will be decreased to voluntary manslaughter if he pleads guilty. The 38-year-old accepted the plea deal.
Accordingly, Sutter and Medina argued over the girlfriend of the actor parking outside their home in Los Angeles. Medina went inside his room with his girlfriend but Sutter followed him. The stabbing then ensued and Sutter was stabbed in the abdomen.
Medina called 911 and told officials he was acting in self-defense. Sutter was taken to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Medina was arrested but released later. Prosecutors rejected the case but he was re-arrested in January 2016.
Medina is known best for his performance as Red Lion Wild Force Ranger in “Power Rangers Wild Force” from 2002 to 2003. He also played the role of villain Deker in “Power Rangers Samurai” from 2011 to 2012. Medina also played roles on “CSI: Miami” and “ER.”
Sutter moved to Los Angeles to help his sister open a business to sell rescued dogs. He was supposed to be 38 years old now. GETTY
