Washington, DC, United States (4E) – Allen Ivanov , the 19-year-old accused of shooting his three former classmates, one of which was his ex-girlfriend, at a house party, pleaded not guilty to the murder charges even after text messages from him were uncovered saying that he is killing everyone.
Ivanov entered his not guilty plea during a brief hearing on Monday afternoon in Snohomish County Superior Court. He is facing three counts of aggravated murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Accordingly, Ivanov was upset because his former girlfriend, identified as Anna Bui , appeared to be moving on with her life. Ivanov broke up with Bui before the killings then Bui posted photos showing her seemingly moving on from Ivanov . Ivanov took that negatively and went to talk to Bui . He wanted to get back together with Bui but she reportedly refused. Ivanov also reportedly heard from other friends that Bui was talking to other guys.
The shooting took place on July 30. Aside from Bui , Jordan Ebner and Jacob Long were also killed. All of them were 19 and were at a house party when the killings took place. They recently graduated from Kamiak High School in Mukilteo .
Before he killed them, Ivanov reportedly sent text messages. One reads: “I’m killing everyone at a huge party.” He also reportedly referred to himself as a future shooter in the text messages he sent. Ivanov also allegedly sent a text message to another person 12 hours before the attack saying that he was going to take a gun safety class before carrying out the attack as he did not want to mess up. The person he texted replied saying that Ivanov should just go deer hunting and stop dwelling over Bui . Later, Ivanov sent a message to the friend saying, “I’m 2 minutes from shooting.”
Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Adam Cornell said in a statement, “For two hours prior to the shootings, he surveilled guests at the house party, read an instruction manual for his weapon, and texted a friend about the impending killings. Soon after he spotted Ms. Bui and a male partygoer interacting, he decided to approach the home with his weapon.”
One of the survivors, 18-year-old Will Kramer, was shot in the back but was able to ran in a nearby wooded area. He called 911.
Ivanov is set to be arraigned on Monday.
