Botany, NSW, Australia (4E) – BRP is recalling MY 2016 Can-Am Defender Side by Sides due to injury and accident hazards

BRP says the instrument cluster of the affected vehicles may display the gearbox position “P” even though the gearbox is not mechanically engaged in the park position.

“In some circumstances, this misleading display may result in the vehicle unexpectedly rolling away, which could lead to injury or even death,” BRP adds.

Letters will be sent to all known registered owners of an affected vehicle. This letter urges the owners to immediately contact their authorized BRP dealer in order to have the vehicle repaired.

The solution for those vehicles is for dealers to perform gearbox position learning and this repair should take about half an hour to complete.

The recalled vehicles was distributed to authorized BRP Can-Am dealers to be sold to consumers. These dealers are the only point of sale at retail of new Can-Am side-by-side vehicles in Australia.
